5 Questions With… Esa Pyykölä
5 Questions with Esa Pyykölä
1. Where were you/what did you do before working at Seriously?
I was at Next Games for the past five-and-a-half years working on The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land, Blade Runner, and an unannounced project. I started out as a programmer but moved to the production track in 2015.
2. What is your current role at Seriously?
I am a producer for Best Fiends STARS. What I do is more about the HOW rather than the WHAT. Once we know what we want to achieve, I figure out how we go about doing that. Depending on the day I might be planning the next sprint, looking into the project schedule for the year, or going through any bugs.
3. What’s your favorite part about your job?
I get to work with a lot of different people, see the overall picture of what goes into making mobile games, and the live ops part of it.
4. Who is your favorite Fiend or Slug and why?
The Fiends are easy to like, but I have always seen the Slugs as underdogs. And I love rooting for the underdogs. For me, the Slugs are very determined to do something but lack in the execution. Just like the Cleveland Browns.
5. When you are not working at Seriously or playing Best Fiends, what do you enjoy doing?
When I am at work I have a plan for the things I will do, what order I will do them, and what the desired outcome is. In my free time, I like when there is no plan and I can just relax without a goal. When I do decide to do something, it is usually traveling.
