5 Questions With…Julia Śmielińska-Pekkanen
5 Questions with Julia Śmielińska-Pekkanen
1. Where were you/what did you do before working at Seriously?
It basically feels like I’m a modern version of Cinderella! Without a fancy dress, though. I’ve always loved games and everything related to them, but I had been told multiple times that this passion would never become a profession. So I worked mostly in customer service – as a barista and a waitress to help out my family while still studying. When I moved to Finland, things got a bit complicated because I couldn’t really work here as a customer assistant without speaking Finnish. I saw it as an opportunity, however, to shoot for the stars and… here I am, combining what I’m good at with what I love doing!
2. What is your current role at Seriously?
I’m a Junior Player Support Specialist. Our most important task is to respond to our Players – we answer their questions, restore their lost progress or missing purchases, offer useful tips on how to pass a difficult level, and we react to the feedback they share with us in their reviews. We do our best to resolve any technical issues they may encounter as well as forward potential problems onto our development and level design teams.
3. What’s your favorite part about your job?
It’s a tough question since there are so many things I really like about it 🙂 For example, I have a fantastic team! If I really had to choose, however, I’d say our Players are the best part of it – there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing a grateful Player after their progress has been restored or reading how Best Fiends is helping them relax or smile more. Some inquiries really make us all go “Awww!“
4. Who is your favorite Fiend or Slug and why?
Someone once said I’m a real life version of Brittle and I accepted her as my spirit animal, or should I say my spirit Fiend…?
5. When you are not working at Seriously or playing Best Fiends, what do you enjoy doing?
Apart from playing games? There aren’t many things that can pull me away from the PC or console, but animals seem to be really good at it! I love walking my cats (yes, cats) and horseback riding.
