5 Questions With…Scott Davidson
5 Questions with Scott Davidson
1. Where were you/what did you do before working at Seriously?
Before moving to Finland to work for Seriously, I was working at a small HTML and web developer in Leamington Spa, England, called FishinaBottle. I was a game artist there making HTML games for clients like Disney and Nickelodeon, in a wide variety of styles and techniques to achieve high quality web experiences and games you could play on your mobile without downloading an app.
2. What is your current role at Seriously?
In my current role at Seriously, I get to create level environments (the world you see while playing each level of Best Fiends), to develop the look of the world of Minutia and Beyond, and to design the look of game assets and visual effects throughout the game.
3. What’s your favorite part about your job?
My favourite part of the job is easily the concepting stages of designing how an area will look. That is when I can really let my creativity loose and come up with something that looks awesome before getting stuck in the technical details of how I’m actually going to make it work. I have the most fun with playing around with ideas that help to shape and build the world the game is set in.
4. Who is your favorite Fiend or Slug and why?
I’d have to say my favourite Fiend is Howie. To me, he’s an honorary Fiend since he’s not a bug like the others and he’s a bit of an oddball. It’s something I can kind of relate to. Plus his character in the animated shorts is really great too, but mostly I love his name: I do love a great pun, and this one is just pure magic!
5. When you are not working at Seriously or playing Best Fiends, what do you enjoy doing?
While I’m not busy at Seriously, I’m usually found binge-watching some TV show on Netflix. My latest addiction is Blacklist. Depending on the time of year, I can also be found throwing myself down a snowy hill on a metal sheet, AKA snowboarding in the winter, or relaxing on the local beach with a book in the summer. Yes, Finland has beaches, and yes it gets warm enough to enjoy them!
