5 Questions With…Ville Lepistö
5 Questions with Ville Lepistö
1. Where were you/what did you do before working at Seriously?
At the beginning of my professional career I was working as a CGI artist and compositor at a post-production company. From that position, I was promoted to a post-producer, where I managed projects and people. After that, I started working at Rovio in the animation studio, producing best-in-class animated shorts and incredibly high quality marketing content in collaboration with some of the biggest brands out there such as Star Wars and State Farm.
2. What is your current role at Seriously?
My current title is Senior Video Producer. I work closely with my colleague Käly in the Helsinki office to handle the creation of all of our videos, whether they are user acquisition ads, gameplay trailers, or time lapse gifs of puzzle-making. We’ve just recently added a new person onto our video team in L.A., so working with and supporting her across time zones and continents is a fun, new twist. The other part of my role is maintaining communication with the L.A. marketing team to make sure we’re aligned on our campaigns across both offices. When we are synced, we can all effectively coordinate our creative efforts, and the Helsinki video team can deliver the best results! Apart from those tasks, I get to work with the game team with asset requests and sometimes offer creative feedback on game visuals and narrative. I also have the reputation of being the loudest person in Helsinki and I tend to keep every workday lively.
3. What’s your favorite part about your job?
The diversity of my daily work tasks is my favorite part. In the morning, I might be reading a script of an animated short film, and then talking about level difficulty with the level design team. Later in the day, I might be checking in on what the character designer is doing and discussing statements of work with the admin team. Before I head home, I’ll capture gameplay footage, edit that for a gameplay trailer, and then finally brief a production partner for a new video! And like most of the people have pointed out in their “5 Questions With…” before me, I love working with absolutely the best colleagues, whether they are in the LA or the Helsinki office! Working with such great people makes working, in general, a joy!
4. Who is your favorite Fiend or Slug and why?
I’ve just recently forged a love of Woody, and specifically the Arctic Woody Fiend style. It’s a good reminder for how to gear up for the winters to come. Also, his double converter special power is awesome when in need of a lot of yellow flowers!
5. When you are not working at Seriously or playing Best Fiends, what do you enjoy doing?
There’s a bunch of things I love doing, but having kids to look after makes free time somewhat of a rare commodity. I’ve been practicing diving with my kids, and that’s been a great way of combining an activity for myself and spending time with my kids. I also enjoy playing guitar in a band with a bunch of local friends, painting miniature figures, listening to music, reading, playing games (including but not limited to Best Fiends). I really enjoy all sorts of things!
