5 Questions with Sarlene Suvivuo
1. Where were you/what did you do before working at Seriously?
I’ve always liked games, but it wasn’t until my mid-twenties that I realized the game industry was a viable career option. I’ve also always loved creating worlds and stories. Growing up, I drew lots of fantasy adventure maps to spend my creative energy. This played a big part in my decision to pursue a career in level and game design later on. Previously, I worked at the game company Frozenbyte on various game projects as a level designer and associate producer.
2. What is your current role at Seriously?
I work as a level designer for Best Fiends. My job is to create interesting and fun levels for our players – some more puzzley and challenging than others and with various game mechanics.
3. What’s your favorite part about your job?
One of the best things about my work is finding that sweet spot of fun and challenging for the levels our awesome team creates. I also get to challenge my design skills and evolve as a professional almost every day, so that is definitely a huge plus!
4. Who is your favorite Fiend or Slug and why?
It’s a tough decision between Howie and Kwincy, but if I had to decide, I’d go with Kwincy. I just absolutely love how Kwincy evolves: all those eyes!
5. When you are not working at Seriously or playing Best Fiends, what do you enjoy doing?
In my free time, I enjoy reading books and playing lots of video games. I also dabble in martial arts, and I love to bake for friends and family when the occasion calls for it.
