5 Questions With… Jari-Pekka Tanhua
5 Questions with Jari-Pekka Tanhua
1. Where were you/what did you do before working at Seriously?
I studied fine arts in school! That was before I found out that you could actually make games for a living. So I left the oil paints behind and applied as a Junior Game Artist to a small game studio about six years ago. After that, I worked as a game artist on various projects and even co-founded a game studio. Those previous experiences have taught me a lot about the game development process.
2. What is your current role at Seriously?
I work as a 2D Artist. Basically, I paint images such as backgrounds and icons, and sometimes I make animations and effects. In my work, I hold a ‘pencil’ more often than a computer mouse, since these days we have access to monitors to draw on. No more sharpening pencils or lost erasers!
3. What’s your favorite part about your job?
There are so many great things about working at Seriously, but the most enjoyable is being surrounded by talented people who I learn new things from every day. That plus starting every day with a delicious cup of coffee makes Seriously a great place to work!
4. Who is your favorite Fiend or Slug and why?
Beebert for sure! I like to think that we have a lot in common – at least the big glasses and a hint of nerdiness.
5. When you are not working at Seriously or playing Best Fiends, what do you enjoy doing?
If I’m not petting my girlfriend’s goofy cat or playing video games, I’m most likely watching a film from my long watchlist. At the moment, I have 1,340 films rated on IMDB. I’m a bit concerned about my long list, but mostly proud.
